The Indian Education Outreach Project is housed in the Center of
Disabilities and Human Development (CDHD), at the University of
Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. Our project is funded by the BIA through
the Center on School Improvement (CSI) in Albuquerque, NM.
Our
contract with CSI involves developing a system of personnel development
that addresses assessed training needs by the Office of Indian Education
Programs for their Comprehensive System of Personnel Development
(CSPD). We have designed a system of training delivery that provides
on-site in-service and pre-service courses. Both pre-service and
in-service activities are provided in a manner that assures quality
professional development and are available for college credit. The
three priorities of delivery are: 1) technical assistance and in-
service training programs for identified CSPD needs, with priority
to schools in corrective action; 2) professional development for
general educators enabling them to obtain a Masters Degree in Special
Education, and 3) to provide regional training focused on CSPD needs,
across tribal schools, yearly.
In
the area of technical assistance, in-service training, and regional
training we are funded to provide trainers and consultants in numerous
areas of identified need. Please see list below of these needs identified
by school administrators and personnel.
